This resort boasts a colorful history: once a “Rat Pack” hangout owned by Frank Sinatra, it hosted the likes of Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Marilyn Monroe.

Where else but the Cal-Neva can someone swim across a state line? In the heated outdoor pool, guests can stroke from Nevada to California and back again. Driving directions from Reno-Tahoe International Airport:

  • Exit the airport on Plumb Ln.
  • Turn left onto US-395S / Carson City, and proceed south for about eight miles.
  • Take Exit 56 / NV-431 / N Lake Tahoe, and proceed west on Hwy 431 for about 21 miles.
  • When Hwy 431 dead ends, turn right onto Hwy 28 and proceed about three miles to resort on left.


Getting there: The best way to reach Cal Neva Resort from the airport is by shuttle. Rental cars are also available online.

Winter driving conditions can be hazardous, with chain laws often in effect. Taxis are also available, and one-way fares are more than $36. Fee subject to change without notice.

Getting around: Renting a car is the most popular and convenient way of getting around. Taxis are also available. Several nearby ski areas, such as Heavenly and Northstar, provide complimentary skier shuttles that stop at the hotel. TART, the public transit bus system, stops one block from the resort and provides service to the north and west sides of Lake Tahoe, including Tahoe City and Truckee.
